About

About us

I’m Nyomi. I’m 40 and a part-time project officer working in local government/part-time blogger and vlogger from the North East of England. I love music, gigs/festivals, fitness, food, and I think nothing is more powerful than when women support other women. I’d like to see the abolishment of capitalist patriarchal structures, and that’s the kinda tone you are going to get here. I pride myself on this being an ‘ethical’ blog and I aim to have integrity in what I write and the brands I work with.

Our family comprises of myself; Papa Ginge (he’s 2 days younger than me – the swine), who is a self-professed IT geek; Arlo, 12; and little Lena who is 9.

I started this blog at the very end of January 2016. I had wanted to set up a blog for ages but it took me years to finally get around to it.

Nomipalony is my childhood (and adulthood) nickname from my family and that’s how it ended up being the name for the blog. It’s pronounced like ‘gnome-y pal own-y’. Palony (in various spellings) also means ‘woman’ in polari slang so is a perfect nickname for me and this feminist site that often concerns itself with all things to do with womanhood.

I post regularly about modern motherhood, health in motherhood, parenting, camping, travel, things to do and reviews. One of my core values is to build other women up instead of tearing them down so this is a key theme underpinning this blog. I want this to be a safe space with no judgement.

We are keen foodies so you will also see restaurant reviews and recipes. After being a meat eater my whole life, I am in the process of switching to a predominately plant based diet.

I’m hugely into fitness and work out 6 days a week so you will also see regular health and fitness content on these pages.

I’m an open book and rarely censor myself so expect me to be very open and say/show you things you may think should be private (like my birth or breastfeeding photos). I’ve always been this way (blame my mother) and that’s one of the reasons I have this blog – my extroversion knows no bounds!

When I post, it’s for a couple of reasons – I think what I’m posting might help you (either practically or just to make you feel better) or I’m trying to make you laugh. I really hope my posts achieve these objectives!

We also post regular vlogs over on YouTube so be sure to check that out if you want to get to know us better. You can get a taste of what our family vlogs are like in our short YouTube trailer below:
